The sixteenth single by melodic metal and electronicore solo project Esprit D’Air is been a surprising one, since it is the re-release of Esprit D’Air’s first song, 出遭い (Deai), which was originally released in 2010.

In a sense of a salute to the past and a hint about the future, Kai from Esprit D’Air shows how the band project has grown. The changes in the band line-up, the different performances and tours, all the releases on which different genres were explored, but also the steps that have been taken to make the band better known worldwide. In the past year, huge steps have been taken by the vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, releasing new singles every six weeks, backed by the fans who support Esprit D’Air through Patreon.

Deai is a soft-rock ballad and is the ninth release since Leviathan was released. Shortly before the video premiered worldwide, Kai already announced that due to the preparations for the upcoming album, he didn’t have time to promote the single. Precisely because there was little promotion before the premiere, it was all the more surprising what was finally presented. The re-recorded first song has a new orchestral string, choir, and piano arrangement with all rock instruments performed by Kai and is mixed and mastered by Paul Visser.

For the music video, a winter backdrop with high mountains and deep valleys was chosen to be shown, which gives extra strength to the ballad. In the meantime, we have also arrived in winter and that makes this video extra attractive, especially because Deai‘s lyrics also have references to snow, but also to something bittersweet. It feels freezing cold, but still has something beautiful in it. Especially when a guitar comes into the picture that seems to be on fire, as a kind of farewell to a beloved instrument.

In 2022, we can look forward to Esprit D’Air’s upcoming album, Oceans. At this very moment, the finishing touches are being put in place by Kai, who has been able to raise all the money through a crowdfunding campaign to make this release possible. In addition, a concert in London is also planned, let’s hope it can go ahead, at the O2 Academy Islington on 20 February 2022.

Be sure to read our interview if you want to know more about Kai of Esprit D’Air and his way of and his way of working on the development of new music.
