Crate Culture Episode 3 by Lucydafirst - guest Francisca Hagen (AVO Magazine)

It is not episode three of the AVO Magazine Podcast, but after this collaboration, it might be coming sooner than later. It all depends on the timing. Recently AVO Magazine’s Content Director (an interesting way of saying Editor-in-Chief) Francisca Hagen got invited by DJ Lucydafirst from Canada to talk about Japanese music on the podcast Crate Culture. The focus of the third podcast episode is linked to AVO Magazine and how Francisca works to put the spotlight on Japanese music, especially indie musicians from Japan.

The total podcast episode is around 1 hour and consists of a DJ mix by Lucydafirst and Francisca will be explaining a bit about the start of AVO Magazine, concert organising and how music gets picked out for review and highlights in articles like the 7 New Music Videos You Need To Check Out.

You can listen to the full third episode of the Crate Culture podcast on Zeno.FM.

Don’t want to listen to the full conversation and are you more interested in the mix that Lucydafirst has prepared? It is all on Mixcloud, with the names of the bands that are added into the mix. It is a 45-minute mix of the variety of music you may find on the AVO Magazine website and a couple of favourites by the DJ herself.

About Crate Culture and Lucydafirst

Crate Culture is a radio show by DJ, producer and Twitch streamer Lucydafirst as part of the online community radio station Global DJs Radio. Lucy focuses on music genres as house, electro, downtempo, lo-fi and breaks and started in 2020 with the Chilltape Projects where she produces music, which is DMCA-free, with her online community that she has created while streaming and DJ-ing. The latest release was titled Air, a digital album, in collaboration with EJ Hoffman, Manny Mode and Love Again.

One of the tracks on this album is titled Seraphinne, named after the nickname of the owner and content director of AVO Magazine, Francisca. The inspiration that Lucy had to make the sound of this track was inspired by Japanese culture, anime and more related to Japan: “Amazing inspiration ~ and really lucky to have met my friend Seraphinne of AVO Magazine/Japone Artists, where she writes all about Japanese artists.”

Francisca: “Seraphinne is a nickname that I use for around 13/14 years on the Internet and it is really an honour that Lucy wanted to name one of her tracks filled with Japan-related inspiration after my nickname.”

The rest of the album is filled with instrumental tracks perfect for a chill afternoon for lounging or working, but also streaming games while hanging out with your online community.
