AVO Magazine is an independent online magazine covering Japanese music and culture. Since 2012, we have been publishing news articles, interviews, feature articles, reviews and reports.

Best description of me is a jack-of-all-trades. From the start with AVO Forum and now with AVO Magazine, I am active as a writer, reporter, reviewer, promoter, photographer, interviewer, presenter and also busy with the technical side, because the website needs to stay online, right?

I can be found regularly at conventions and concerts in the Netherlands and sometimes elsewhere in Europe or even in Japan. I have a great passion for Japan and music, and since 2012 I have been able to write about this combination (and more) for this web magazine.

The launch of AVO Magazine seemed like a logical next step after running a forum on Japanese (pop) culture, as I found myself increasingly involved in Japan-related events and concerts featuring Japanese acts. Almost at the same time, I started organising concerts, mainly for independent acts from Japan.

Now, so many years later, I have built up a small team around me, and we have managed to publish a variety of interesting interviews, reports and articles that have sparked an interest in many people in discovering lesser-known Japanese music.

Keep AVO Magazine online!

AVO Magazine is more than just an online magazine about Japanese music and culture. In addition to covering Japan-related events in Europe, AVO Magazine also supports and organises them. Under the banner AVO Magazine presents, several concerts and festivals have been held, including AVO J-Rock Festival (2013) and AVO J-Music Festival (2018), featuring performances by Japanese (indie) musicians. More information about AVO Magazine can be found here.
