Kokeshi, a Tokyo-based blackgaze hardcore band influenced by Japanese horror, will be touring Europe for the first time. What began as the announcement of a single gig in Italy has grown into a tour comprising seven gigs across four countries.
There was clearly a demand for more shows, but unfortunately for these fans, no further shows could be added. The band soon announced that they would find a way to make it up to their fans in the near future. In any case, this upcoming European tour is a good start for this intriguing band.
Active since 2017, the band released their first album in 2020 and then signed with Tokyo Jupiter Records. Since the release of their second album in 2023, this four-piece’s popularity has grown steadily. Carried by a dark, heavy sound, with elements of hardcore, screamo, post-rock, blackgaze and post-metal, Nana effortlessly presents intriguing vocals that range from growling grunts and shrill screams to soft whispers and clear vocals. Completed with theatrical horror elements, the band delves deeper and deeper into the abyss. Shortly before the start of the tour, the band released a single entitled 人間ニ孵ル, which translates as Hatching Into Humanity.
