Four-piece cheer punk band Ni-hao!!!! will tour Europe later this month, in July. The European tour will kick off at Valkhof Festival in Nijmegen and consist of 12 shows in six countries.
Consisting of Red Ariko, Blue Yukari, Yellow Miwako, and Purple Kaori, the Kyoto-based band has been active for over twenty-five years. The band’s music is described as a combination of punk, techno-pop, hip-hop and even speedcore, which gives a good indication of why they call themselves a cheer punk band. They have worked with avant-garde composer John Zorn on their first two albums, which were released on his label. With a collection of a handful of albums, but also mini-albums, cassettes, vinyls and digital singles, they have produced an extensive discography. One of their tracks, Matsuri-Shake, was chosen as the intro music for Rosalía’s world tour in 2022, but also for one of Prada’s fashion shows in 2024.
