If you enjoyed any of the previous candy kits with jelly balls, you’ll love this one too! With this candy kit you can easily create a colourful drink. The way this drink looks reminded me of Bubble Tea, but it’s definitely a carbonated more vibrant version. The package contains four powders to create the different colours of jelly balls, two powders for the drink itself, a spoon, a pipette, a booklet with instructions and a mould.

When it comes to the texture of the jelly balls, it’s rather familiar. When you bite into them they sort of burst open and the inside isn’t quite liquid, but a lot less sturdy than the outer layer. There are several candy kits with similar jelly balls available, a lot of which have been reviewed as well, find some here.
The flavours of the jelly balls weren’t very strong, instead the main flavour seemed to be sweet. All the intended flavours were recognizable, but only when trying the specific jelly balls separately or trying the ‘syrup’ you make them with separately.
I’m not quite sure what the flavour of the fizzy drink was supposed to be, but it seemed to taste a little like red grape. The carbonated drink in combination with the jelly balls make for a fun drink with interesting textures.

As you can see on the pictures below, the final product looks pretty similar to the packaging. The only difference is in the colours, the jelly balls had less vibrant colours and the drink itself wasn’t completely colourless, it seemed to have a yellow/orange colour to it.
TIP: If you choose to add more water, like I did, when making the ‘drink’ portion of this candy kit, the drink will lose a little of its fizz but it will still taste carbonated.

Clean the mould with warm water, after using it, and let it air dry. Don’t use soap to clean the mould.
You could probably recreate these jelly balls by experimenting a little with recipes for ‘artificial ikura’.
