Rock band sokoninaru (そこに鳴る) managed to enthral a worldwide audience with their announcement of an album and music video on August 11th. The album will be their first full-length album and the music video will be a sneak preview of what you can expect of it.
For those who are familiar with the rock band, know that they are immediately plunged in with their technical excellence in terms of the heaviness of the music, but also the speed of how these musicians play their musical instruments. Blink your eyes and you’ve missed something beautiful.
The start of the video puts you shortly on the wrong footing and after a short intro, it immediately drags you into the speed and power of the band that feels more and more hectic. While sokoninaru officially consists of two musicians, guitarist and singer Juko Suzuki and bass player and singer Misaki Fujiwari, with a support drummer, Lament Moment comes across as well assembled. The band seems to be playing more and more interconnected and coordinated and therefore it doesn’t lose its spirit. It feels much heavier now.
sokoninaru goes a step further with Lament Moment to have the music video directed by Kazuaki Kimura (from film team this is the end). While the clip is straightforward, it is showing the band playing the song, you can clearly see that the light and image effects that are incorporated in the video ensure that it always attracts the viewer’s attention. Extra attention has been paid to the speed of the song, the speed we’re used to from the rock band, to translate it into images. The result of the music video is finger-licking good.
There’s no doubt that the music in Lament Moment is technically well put together, not unexpected from this band since the band members know how to do it right from the very first notes, it also presents a qualitatively impressive video it’s impossible to slacken the attention of the audience. And then the song ends suddenly. Even though the song is 3 minutes and 16 minutes long – the music video has a slightly longer duration – the speed of the band’s instrumental work makes it seem as if it’s much shorter. This track is agreeable the best introduction to the next step of sokoninaru’s career. While it tastes like more, it’s just waiting until October for the rock band’s first album. Only about 7 weeks to go.
The album, titled 超越 (Chouetsu), is available for pre-order via CD Japan in regular and limited edition. With the limited version, you get a DVD with footage of a concert held at Shindaita FEVER in June 2019. The album contains 9 tracks.
