7 New Music Videos You Need To Check Out (Week 34, 2020)
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on RedditShare on Tumblr

With a large music industry such as Japan has, second largest in the world, it is inevitable that music fans will be inundated with a profusion of good (and also less good) music from this country. It is impossible to keep track of this and write a review about it per video. But to avoid missing out on gems, it is time for a weekly list of new music videos from Japanese musical acts that are definitely worth watching. We are now looking back on a couple of videos that were released in week 34.

ワガママきいて?? (Wagamama Kiite) – ラミラミ (ramirami)

After significant changes to their lineup, Wagamama Kiite release the music video for ラミラミ (ramirami), their first in over a year. The song is a high energy mixture of rock and electronic influences, a good start for the new members. — Recommended by PHX

CAT ATE HOTDOGS – kikanju

CAT ATE HOTDOGS are a four-piece rock band from the Kansai area. They have been active since the spring of 2018 and won a year later a Grand Prix that was focused on talent discovery for teenagers. After releasing an EP in the summer of 2019, the young band will release their first mini-album, titled omanju, on September 16th. — Recommended by Fran

UnderBeasty – Trust in…

UnderBeasty have released the music video for Trust in…. While retaining some of the familiar rock sounds that are present in their other songs, the song has a more subtle feeling. A very beautiful song that shows the strengths of each members vocals. Their 6th major single Real Blade is due to be released on September 9th through Avex Entertainment. — Recommended by PHX

White Waves – ソーダ水 (Soda water)

White Waves have only been a band since 2017 when they quickly released an EP. 2018 was then a huge year for the band as they released a mini-album and also won a competition to perform at SaiSai Fest (festival organised by SILENT SIREN) in 2018. Now they are back with this new single which will hopefully be a sign of a new EP or album sometime soon. — Recommended by AlexD

One Eye Closed – Monster

Only started at the end of 2019, we can still consider the band One Eye Closed as brand-new, the hardcore band has worked hard to become successful, but has done a lot of things in its short existence. They released an EP, will be already featured in a video game, No Straight Roads, and has been sharing the stage with many well-known bands, such as ROACH. The band is influenced by a wide range of genres, combining western and Japanese elements in their music. — Recommended by Fran

giv strange car – redpig & yellowbird

Osaka-based psychedelic/alternative rock band giv strange car recently released their first single, titled moeru asayake -heart of the sunrise-, after starting the band officially up in July of this year. After releasing some visualiser videos, it was time to put out an official music video and give a face to the three-piece. Their first performance is planned at the end of August. — Recommended by Fran

STUD – Rollin’

After releasing an album with the title HEY HO STAY HOME in May, referring the current ongoing situation with the advice to stay home and stay safe, the Yokohama based punk rock band STUD released a limited distributed single accompanied with a music video with the message that they will release a new single in December and a new album in 2021, the year the band has been in existence for 20 years. One of the members is CHARLIE (X Made Alcoholic Santaclaus) who rejoined the band in the summer of 2019. — Recommended by Fran

Next week we will be back for a new list of new music videos to check out.
