Bad news for those looking forward to the rescheduled edition of Made in Asia in Brussels, scheduled for September of this year, as this edition will be cancelled. The organisation shared an announcement about the cancellation on their website and social media and explained that the 2020 edition of Made in Asia is scratched due to the resurgence of the COVID-19 crisis.
The organisation continued their explanation: “When Made in Asia was postponed for the first time in March 2020 due to the corona crisis, everyone was living in the hope that we would see each other again in September for a dazzling anime and manga event at Brussels Expo. But unfortunately, the virus is returning to Belgium today with a resurgence of infections. Although there is a great interest in the Made in Asia community to turn it into another fandom party together (thank you!), it is ethically and deontologically a better option to cancel the September edition. It is impossible to guarantee the health of the numerous fans and exhibitors, even with a whole bunch of extra security measures. The current level of contamination and the nature of the Made in Asia event as a huge indoor market and meeting place is an impossible combination in this unprecedented climate.”
Now the organisation will focus on the regular 2021 edition, that will take place on 12, 13 and 14 March. If you have purchased tickets for the 2020 edition, it is possible to use these for the next edition in 2021. The tickets will stay valid and you only have to show your tickets at the entrance and you will get access to the expo. It is also possible to ask for your money back, that will be possible until 31st of August. Those who have purchased a ticket will receive an email from Made in Asia.
All changes of Japan-related events and events where Japanese musicians are planned to perform are compiled in a list that you can find here. This list will be regularly updated.
