The Danish convention J-Popcon announced their postponement for their 2020 edition, that was planned for May 2020. The convention will now take place from 19 to 21 February 2021. According to the organisation behind the convention, J-Popkai, this was the first date that they were able to get and is realistic.
In a message on their website, the chairman Nicholas Ipsen explained: “We have been trying to find a new date in 2020, but all the possibilities we had were swept off the table as the government announced that larger assemblies would continue to be banned until and including August, now September.” The convention theme will be announced at a later date, but the organisation stated that they will concentrate on the important things first.
Since J-Popcon started out 20 years ago, this year was supposed to be the year where the convention would celebrate their 20th-anniversary.
At the beginning of April, the Danish government announced that all major events will be banned until August due to the current situation of COVID-19. This means that J-Popcon was forced to cancel or move their event. The organisation has been informing its visitors since the beginning of March on their website. They kept a close eye on the situation until it was decided that they were not able to organise this event in May of this year.
All J-Popcon 2020 tickets will be refunded, and when that is done, tickets go on sale for our the new date. Refunds will be automatically done.
