Following the decision of the French government to extend restrictions on large gatherings until mid-July due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been announced that Japan Expo Paris will skip 2020. Since the 2020 edition of Japan Expo Paris was planned for the beginning of July, it means that it became impossible for the organisation to go ahead with one of the biggest Japan-related events in Europe.
The organisation of Japan Expo Paris announced that after the announcement of the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, that they are now sure that they have to postpone the 21st edition to next year. The organisation was able to set the new dates for the 21st edition, better known as 21st Impact, from 15 July to 18 July. In addition, the organisation asked the ticket buyers to wait to contact them with questions as they need some time to set up the terms of the various solutions they want to offer. “This is a first for us too.”
The organisation had announced a bit of their programme a few weeks ago, with May’n as the musical guest of honour. For this year a new edition of Anisong Festa was planned as well with May’n, True and rock group Blue Encount.
Last week, big French metal festival Hellfest announced to cancel the 2020 edition and celebrate their 15th edition next year. In the meantime, there are more Japan-related events, concerts and European tours cancelled or postponed. All of these changes are compiled in a list that you can find here.
