It has been a while that Europe could welcome the Black metal band SIGH, but it seems that they will return in August 2020. SIGH announced their performance at the Czech metal festival Brutal Assault with the following text: “We will be back.” Brutal Assault will take place from 5 until the 8th of August and will celebrate their 25th anniversary.
Of course, we have to wait and see if the metal band will plan a European tour around this performance.
SIGH (you pronounce it as sai) performed in Europe many times before, from separate shows to tours. 2018 seems to be the last time the band performed in Europe. That year was also the year for the release of the newest album of SIGH, Heir to Despair. Active since 1990, nowadays SIGH calls themselves an extreme metal act, but have been seen as an avant-garde black metal band as well by many. They are one of the first Japanese black metal bands when they started in the early 90s and since have earned a good reputation with combining theatrics and extreme metal together, with here and there sprinkles of other not expected combinations.
Until now they have released 11 studio albums. Notable is that since the release of Scorn Defeat in 1993, their first album, the album titles start with a letter of the band name. If SIGH decides to release a new album, it will start with the letter S. Although, if you put all the released studio albums in a row, you will find out that between Infidel Art (1995) and Hail Horror Hail (1997) misses an album starting with a G, it seems that you can put Ghastly Funeral Theatre (1997) in between them.
Currently, the SIGH’s line-up consists of Mirai Kawashima, Dr. Mikannibal (alto, saxophone and vocals), Satoshi Fujinama (bass), they are seen on the band photo shared in the header, completed with band members You Oshima (guitar) and Junichi Harashima (drums).
The band is very open towards their fans on social media, mostly kept active by the vocalist and keyboard player Mirai Kawashima, asking for opinions, sharing personal stories and funny comments in addition to the normal news that a band normally shares. They are also openly supportive towards other metal bands and in the past have been interviewing those bands as well for news outlets.
