Product Review: Bourbon – Petit Kinako Wafers, Langue de Chat White, Langue de Chat, Choco Cookies, Black Chocolate, Butter Cookies & Choco Chips

Photographs by MuchMunchies

These tiny cookies by Bourbon have peaked my interest for a while, so I decided to try a few flavours out. There are savoury cookies available of this brand as well, but I decided to try out a few sweet ones: Kinako Wafers, Langue de Chat White, Langue de Chat, Choco Cookies, Black Chocolate, Butter Cookies and Choco Chips.

Bourbon – Petit Kinako Wafers
Price: ± €2,-

I couldn’t quite place the flavour of these wafers, but that’s probably because I haven’t ever eaten anything with Kinako, or roasted soybean flour, before. They weren’t my favourite, the taste was a bit bitter and not very sweet at all. I think this cookie would be best suited for someone who’s not into very sweet cookies and likes wafers.

Bourbon – Petit Langue de Chat White
Price: ± €2,-

These cookies are very neutrally flavoured, making the filling stand out more. The vanilla white chocolate filling tasted creamy and like white chocolate. The cookies do actually taste like the French Langue de chat cookies, even if they’re differently shaped.

Bourbon – Petit Choco Cookies
Price: ± €2,-

These vanilla cookies with a chocolate and chocolate chips centre were not my favourite. They were a bit soggy in texture, which I disliked, but I should’ve known since they were described by the retailer as moist.

Bourbon – Petit Black Chocolate
Price: ± €2,-

These remind me a lot of Oreos, with the small difference that I think they had a stronger flavour to them. The cookie itself seems to have a bit more of a speculaas flavour to them and overpowered the vanilla filling a bit, but that might also be because there was very little vanilla filling. Nonetheless I still liked this cookie, for its flavour and the cute design.

Bourbon – Petit French Butter Cookies
Price: ± €2,-

Delicious French butter cookies, nice small shape. It falls apart quite easily when you chew on it and has a creamy taste to it.

Bourbon – Petit Choco Chips
Price: ± €2,-

Tasty chocolate chip cookie, with plenty of chocolate chips in it. Different shape than you’d expect, but I kind of like the flat disc shape they have. The cookie itself isn’t a standard vanilla cookie, it tasted like it had some cocoa in it as well.

These cookies are all bite sized, or ‘petit’ if you will, and each have their own colour with matching bear on the packaging. If you purchased the Bourbon Petit Bear Chocolate house, which I reviewed here, you could use these to remake the kit and decorate the rooftop with. Of course you could use these for decorating (cup)cakes or other treats as well.
