This is not a sponsored review and because of this I won’t mention where I bought this set, if you do an online search using the name of this kit you’ll be able to find this one in several webshops.
Heart – Oekaki Stick Chocolate – Simple
Price: ± €6 for one of them
Extra supplies: Milk Scissors, Spoon, Refrigerator, Microwave*, Heatproof Bowl or Cup, Optional: Piping bag or Sandwich bag
* Instead of heating the pudding mixture in the microwave I decided to heat it au bain-marie, with a heatproof glass bowl on top of a pan with a small layer of boiling water. I stirred until all of the powder had dissolved.
With these kits you create cute little strawberry puddings, there are three versions of this set available: a little bear, a kitty and a bunny. I purchased all three of them. Making the little puddings takes very little time, just like decorating them. Unfortunately waiting for the pudding to firm up does take a long time, this takes about 3 hours.
These kits are very simple, but the end result is very nice. It was fun to make, especially because you don’t have to put in much effort to get a nice result.
The final product looks cute, as long as you spread the powder well to get a nice clear pattern. The patterns clearly resemble the ones on the packaging.
The strawberry pudding doesn’t have a very strong flavour and the texture is pretty firm for a pudding. The taste of the pudding does of course depend on the type of milk you use as well. The powder add a delicious chocolate flavour to the pudding, which definitely adds a nice touch.
TIPS: If there are bubbles at the top of your mixture, before putting it into the fridge, pop them by stirring or pricking them so there won’t be any holes in the top of your little pudding.
Don’t add all the cocoa powder into the little sift at once, otherwise you run the risk of all the cocoa piling up in one place instead of getting a clear design.
Want to enjoy these kits again?
Clean the little bear, bunny or kitty shape and the little bowl with warm water and soap, after using it, and let it air dry.
If you want to reuse the shape you could put a small amount of pudding into the bowl. Then add powdered sugar, cocoa powder or even nonpareils to fill in the design. Of course you could also create the design on top of a cupcake or something else.
