As we slowly move towards 2025, tour plans for that year are becoming more and more concrete. One of the most surprising announcements was the European tour of visual kei rock band Nightmare, who will tour this continent for the first time in January. 2025 also marks a special year for Nightmare, with the five-piece band celebrating their 25th anniversary.

Titled NIGHTMARE The WORLD TOUR 極東乱心天國 (Kyokutou Ranshin Tengoku), fans may recognise that it contains references to the rock band’s previous releases, the tour will include nine shows in seven countries, with Finland as the starting point. The band will not perform in the Netherlands or Belgium, but fans can look into the show dates in surrounding countries to see which venue suits them best.

The band has gained popularity over the years thanks to their hard but melodic sound and willingness to explore new genres and styles. They are known for their ability to combine intensity with emotional depth, which has made them a prominent name in the Japanese rock scene. In almost 25 years, the rock band has built an extensive discography, with more than 30 singles, as well as a good number of best-of albums, several live albums and 11 studio albums, the most recent of which NOX:LUX was released in 2022.

For fans of anime, the band might look familiar to you through the songs the WORLD and アルミナ (Alumina) that were featured as opening and ending theme songs for the well-known anime series Death Note in 2006, but they have remained active producing music associated with anime series and television shows in Japan. Despite a break in 2016 to explore solo projects, Nightmare made a comeback in 2020 to celebrate their 20th anniversary with a special live show and new music. Their 25th anniversary will be celebrated even more grandly with performances outside Japan.
