If you have been following the visual kei metal band DEVILOOF for a while, then you are probably familiar with the four-piece band’s various attempts to secure a European tour. To date, the band has yet to perform in Europe, but that is about to change. When it was confirmed in March that DEVILOOF would perform at Spain’s Resurrection Fest in the summer, the question arose whether a full European tour would finally follow.
On 22 May came the answer: the band announced a European tour, titled The Unholy. Although the just-announced shows will not take place immediately after their first performance in Europe, Resurrection Fest in June, the eight headline shows will follow later this November. Besides Spain, the tour will take DEVILOOF to Finland, Poland, the UK, France, the Netherlands and Germany. Tickets for the November gigs go on pre-sale on Thursday 29 May.
Since their formation in 2015, DEVILOOF have managed to distinguish themselves within the Japanese extreme metal scene by combining deathcore and death metal with elements of traditional Japanese culture. Consisting of vocalist Keisuke, guitarist Ray, bassist Daiki, and drummer Kanta, the metal band has released three albums and three mini-albums, along with a stack of singles, the most recent of which was 因習 (Inshu). The music video for this single was collaborated with actor Tadanobu Asano, who recently received a Golden Globe for his role in the drama series Shogun. In late 2022, the metal band made the move to make their major debut via Tokuma Japan Communications.
In 2024, the metal band first travelled to South America for four sold-out shows and were also in Thailand for a performance. This year, they were the support act for US deathcore band Carnifex on their Asia tour, which concluded with DEVILOOF’s organised festival DEVIFEST and a show in Tokyo.
