Recently I purchased ten different flavours of pocky, or really nine and one pretz flavour, that I felt like trying out. There are more flavours available, but I bought: Chocolate, Cookies & Cream, Almond Crush, Almond Trinity, Kumamon Milk Cocoa, Strawberry Milk, Milk, Choco Banana, Mango and Pretz TKG Gudetama and Friends (Easter).

Glico – Pocky Chocolate
Price: ± €2,- per box of 2 packs (± 45 grams)
Ingredients: Wheat Flour, Sugar, Palm Oil, Cocoa Powder, Skim Milk Powder, Shortening, Milk Powder, Cocoa Mass, Thickener, Emulsifier (Lecithin), Leavening Agent, PH Regulator, Flavour Enhancer.

This one had a nice flavour to it, the chocolate tastes a bit like dark chocolate. It is milk chocolate, but it a bit bitter, at least more bitter than milk chocolate usually is, but it did also have a creamy texture. The stick is very neutral and reminds me a little of LU mini crackers.

Glico – Pocky Cookies & Cream
Price: ± €2,- per box of 1 pack (± 45 grams)
Ingredients: Wheat Flour, Sugar, Almond, Whole Milk Powder, Vegetable Oil, Cacao Mass, Cocoa Butter, Shortening, Salt, Butter, Yeast, Emulsifier (Soy Bean), Flavouring, Colouring, Leavening Agent.

The cream part of this pocky is very sweet and reminded me a little of custard pudding. It has a faint cookie flavour to it, there are bits of cookie stuck in the chocolate. The stick tastes pretty neutral, like the previous one, but does taste like there is a little bit of cocoa powder in it.

Glico – Pocky Almond Crush
Price: ± €2,- per box of 2 packs (± 40 grams)
Ingredients: Wheat Flour, Sugar, Almond, Whole Milk Powder, Vegetable Oil, Cacao Mass, Cocoa Butter, Shortening, Salt, Butter, Yeast, Emulsifier (Soy Bean), Flavouring, Colouring, Leavening Agent.

I really liked this one, the crushed almonds underneath the milk chocolate on a neutral pocky stick is very tasty. The stick was a bit thicker than the other pocky sticks usually are, probably to hold the weight of the almonds and chocolate. The almonds were nice, but did taste a little ‘old’, they had a little less flavour than I’m used to.

Glico – Pocky Almond Trinity
Price: ± €4,- per box of 4 packs (± 75 grams)
Ingredients: Wheat Flour, Sugar, Lactose, Cocoa Butter, Powdered Milk, Almond Paste, Vegetable Oil, Almonds, Shortening, Salt, Fermented Butter, Yeast, Artificial Flavouring, Emulsifier (Soy Bean), Leavening Agent, Sucralose.

These are a little different, they’ve got sugar on top of the chocolate which gives it a bit more crunch. The chocolate layer tastes like white chocolate with almond paste and has a bit of a caffeine flavour to it. The pocky stick is neutral in flavour, but a bit harder and dryer than the other kinds usually are.

Glico – Pocky Kumamon Milk Cocoa
Price: ± €2,- per box of 1 pack (± 27 grams)
Ingredients: Wheat Flour, Vegetable Oil, Sugar, Lactose, Sweetened Condensed Milk, Whole Milk Powder, Shortening, Cocoa Powder, Cream, Seasoning Agents, Emulsifier, Yeast, Salt.

I love Kumamon! And I love the initiative involved with this pocky, if you buy them you support the Kumamoto Project. Aside from the charity involved this pocky also just tastes nice. It’s basically a white chocolate layer over chocolate stick.

Glico – Pocky Strawberry Milk
Price: ± €2,- per box of 1 pack (± 42 grams)
Ingredients: Wheat Flour, Palm Oil, Sugar, Sweetened Condensed Milk, Skim Milk, Shortening, Strawberry Powder, Salt, Yeast, Lecithin (Soy), Mineral Salt.

This one has a faint strawberry flavour, creamy texture. The stick is a little less hard than other kinds so far, still has a nice bite to it. Reminds me of Liga Milk Break Strawberry.

Glico – Pocky Milk
Price: ± €2,- per box of 1 pack (± 42 grams)
Ingredients: Wheat Flour, Palm Oil, Sugar, Sweetened Condensed Milk, Skimmed Milk, Shortening, Salt, Yeast, Lecithin (Soy), Mineral Salt.

Very similar to the strawberry milk version, only without the faint strawberry flavour. This one reminds me of Liga Milk Break Milk.

Glico – Pocky Choco Banana
Price: ± €2,- per box of 1 pack (± 25 grams)
Ingredients: Wheat Flour, Sugar, Palm Oil, Milk Powder, Lactose, Margarine, Banana Powder, Cocoa Powder, Tapioca Starch.

Apart from the cute packaging I have to say I didn’t like this one very much. As soon as you open the package you notice the strong artificial banana smell, it also tastes like artificial banana. The stick tastes a bit like cocoa.

Glico – Pocky Mango
Price: ± €2,- per box of 1 pack (± 25 grams)
Ingredients: Wheat Flour, Sugar, Palm Oil, Lactose, Milk Powder, Shortening, Mango Powder, Emulsifier, Rising Agent, Acidity Regulator, Artificial Colouring, Flavour Enhancer.

Again a very strong artificial smell to this one, this one mango. The flavour was a little less strong than the smell, which made it okay, but I didn’t like it a lot. It reminded me a little of Liga Milk Break because of the milk flavour in the chocolate.

Glico – Pretz TKG Gudetama and Friends (Easter)
Price: ± €3,- per box of 4 packs (± 72 grams)
Ingredients: Wheat Flour, Vegetable Oil, Rice Flour, Sugar, Chicken Egg, Mayonnaise, Shortening, Soy Sauce Seasoning, Salt, Yeast, Kombu Extract Powder, Powdered Soy Sauce, Soup Powder, Cheese Powder, Dried Egg Yolk, Water Syrup, Seasoning, Flavouring, Emulsifying Agent, Artificial Colouring, Acidulant.

This one has a super cute packaging with Gudetama, Hello Kitty, My Melody and Pompompurin.

Initially I expected a sweet pudding flavour, because it was advertised as such on the store I bought it at, but it was very salty. This is definitely a savoury pretz. It had a cheesy salty cracker flavour to it. The outside of these are covered in salt.

TKG stands for Tamago kake gohan, or ‘egg over rice’ and is a dish where raw egg is placed on top of cooked rice.

It was fun to try out all these flavours, I’ve discovered some new favourites and some I’ll definitely not want to try again. What I love about pocky is that most of the packages are small, so you can try them out without spending too much money and without overeating on them.
