The tribal-psych trio KUUNATIC will return to Europe for a second tour of this year, this coming autumn. Last May and June, the trio was touring Europe in support of their most recent album, Gate of Klüna. It seems that they have not enough of the continent as they will be back in November, starting and ending in Germany. In between these shows, the trio will also perform in the Netherlands, France and Switzerland. Perhaps this second tour in 2022 is to make up for lost years due to the pandemic.
KUUNATIC are Fumie Kikuchi on keys and vocals, Yuko Araki on drums and vocals and Shoko Yoshida on bass and vocals. The members of the Tokyo-based band come from quite distinct musical and cultural backgrounds. They combine several musical genres to convey their bizarre universe, including dub music, progressive rock, psychedelic rock, traditional Japanese music, Latin music, and music from horror films. They transport listeners to their ceremonial otherworldly planet with the help of three female vocalists. Of their latest album Gate of Klüna is said that it tells the story of the imaginary planet Kuurandia (also the title of their first EP), how it began, evolved and was explored.
