Heart – Bonsai Tree – Simple
Price: ± €8
Extra supplies: Microwave, Water, Scissors, Freezer.
Edible miniature Bonsai Trees, aren’t these beautiful? Judging from the packaging these should turn out pretty realistically, which is quite an astonishing result for something edible. The box contains five chocolate toffees, one bag of powder, a mould and a standard. You get one of two moulds at random, whichever you get isn’t indicated on the packaging either.
Flavour: ♥♥
The toffee had a chocolate flavour to it, but tasted less chocolatey than I expected it to. It had a real toffee texture to it and a caramel aspect to it as well, flavour wise. Honestly, I don’t love toffees in general, but these were fine. If you do love toffees this is definitely your kind of candy.
When it comes to the ‘leafs’ the cake texture was fluffy and it had a vanilla flavour to it, but reminded me more of pancakes rather than cake. I didn’t dislike eating the two elements together, but I preferred eating them separate.
Time needed: ⧗
This kit mainly takes time when it comes to setting up in the freezer. Kneading the toffees, pressing them into the mould, making and adding the cake doesn’t take up much time.
Difficulty level: ★
This is an easy candy kit, as long as you follow the instructions. If the toffee sticks to your fingers, rather than staying in the mould, make sure to wash and dry your hands properly and then try again.
Once you’ve finished making these, don’t keep these out of the freezer too long because they lose their shape pretty quickly and collapse. So don’t thaw them until you’re ready to eat them soon.
Similarity: 📷📷📷
As you can see on the pictures below, the final product looks practically the same as the picture on the packaging. I didn’t receive the rectangular container in either kit, but I did manage to get both moulds. To be honest the real candies looked more vibrant and prettier than the ones on the packaging, which is rarely the case.
Want to enjoy this kit again?
Clean the mould and container with warm water, after using it, and let it air dry.
Fill the mould with toffee again and freeze in between, as described on the packaging, and add some green cake on top to finish off the trees.
This is not a sponsored review and because of this I won’t mention where I bought this set, if you do an online search using the name of this kit you’ll be able to find this one in several webshops.
