Bandcamp will do No Fees Days every first Friday for the next three months

In March, Bandcamp started their Bandcamp Fridays where they help artists impacted by the pandemic by waiving the revenue shares to support the musicians and labels. Then they decided to do this on every first Friday of the month in May, June and July. On these 4 days (including March), music fans have put more than $20 million (‎€ 17 million) directly into the pockets of artists and labels.

These No Fees Day on Bandcamp will return from the 7th of August and will continue on the first Friday of every month until the end of the year. Bandcamp shared a calendar, so that you can plan them in. Bandcamp even made a special website for it: isitbandcampfriday.com?

Bandcamp Fridays 2020 Calendar:

August 7, 2020
September 4, 2020
October 2, 2020
November 6, 2020
December 4, 2020

Co-Founder & CEO Ethan Diamond shared in April a message on the website of Bandcamp about this action: “Musicians will continue to feel the effects of lost touring income for many months to come, so we’re also sharing some ideas below on how fans can support the artists they love and how artists can give fans new, creative ways to provide support. It may sound simple, but the best way to help artists is with your direct financial support, and we hope you’ll join us through the coming months as we work to support artists in this challenging time.” Some of the options they highlight are to discover new musicians through Bandcamp Daily or Bandcamp Discover and support them if you like their music.

This is a perfect reminder to let you know that you can only get the latest album by Boris, titled NO, digitally on Bandcamp. Haru Nemuri’s LOVETHEISM on vinyl is still available through Specific Recordings. In an earlier article about the Bandcamp Fridays, I mentioned more suggestions. Also, read A Beginner’s Guide to Japanese Rock on Bandcamp by Patrick St. Michel to get some more inspiration about which artist(s) to support. More than enough choice!

More information about the No Fees Day of Bandcamp can be found on the website of Bandcamp.
