After waiving the revenue shares to support the musicians and labels, Bandcamp decided to this on every first Friday of each month in the coming three months. So on 1 May, 5 June and 3 July, they will waive their revenue share for all sales on Bandcamp, from midnight to midnight Pacific Time. This means that 100% of the profits will go to the artists on this platform.
Co-Founder & CEO Ethan Diamond shared a message on the website of Bandcamp about this action: “Musicians will continue to feel the effects of lost touring income for many months to come, so we’re also sharing some ideas below on how fans can support the artists they love and how artists can give fans new, creative ways to provide support. It may sound simple, but the best way to help artists is with your direct financial support, and we hope you’ll join us through the coming months as we work to support artists in this challenging time.” Some of the options they highlight are to discover new musicians through Bandcamp Daily or Bandcamp Discover and support them if you like their music.
This is a perfect reminder to let you know that NECRONOMIDOL returned to Bandcamp, that HIGHFeeL just started with Bandcamp, that This Time Records (Nerd Magnet and Lucie,Too) is still on Bandcamp, that musician Velladon has been releasing a lot of new music on his Bandcamp, that Get Your Genki just released their fifth compilation, that Damnably Records will have some nice Otoboke Beaver merchandise ready and that Riot Season Records has an interesting collection of Acid Mothers Temple and Hibishibire releases on their Bandcamp page.
