Originally, J-POP Foundation’s AnimeCon Classic would take place in the first weekend of June. Since the classic edition got postponed and the regular edition of AnimeCon being planned for next year, it would mean that 2020 would be without AnimeCon. The organisation noticed the several online events that have been popping up due to the current situation around COVID-19 and decided to hop on this train with an edition of AnimeCon @ Home in the first weekend of June 2020.
J-POP Foundation shared a message on their social media: “We at AnimeCon hope you’re all staying safe and healthy in these difficult times! Remaining inside as much as possible may be becoming a bore, especially with the cancellations of so many fun events. With that in mind, we’re pleased to announce our latest little project, which we hope will keep you entertained, if only for a brief weekend. Introducing… AnimeCon @ Home, our first ever ‘online convention’!”
The online convention will be streamed on both Twitch and Facebook, where you can enjoy several activities while staying in the comfort of your own home. According to J-POP Foundation, in addition, the communication app Discord will play a large role in ‘visitor’ interaction.
At this moment, the organisation is working on the schedule of this event and it is possible for you to send in your ideas for an event during the weekend of 6 and 7 June. You can think of competitions, artists and cosplay. More information about the exact streaming times and other details will be announced by AnimeCon in the near future.
