J-POP Foundation announces date and location for 22nd edition of AnimeCon
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on RedditShare on Tumblr

In the Summer of 2019, it was announced that AnimeCon would have two editions in 2020. But yesterday the organisation announced that this will be the case in 2021.

The organisation behind AnimeCon, J-POP Foundation, finally announced the date and location for the 22nd edition of AnimeCon. Many visitors were waiting for more information surrounding a second edition of AnimeCon in 2020, the regular edition, but the announcement took a long time.

The organisation is currently working hard on the first AnimeCon Classic 2020, taking place at Theaterhotel Almelo, for many older visitors a place with many memories of earlier editions of the anime convention. This convention will take place from 5 to 7 June 2020. Although the organisation has been keeping an eye on the current situation of COVID-19.

In the meantime, J-POP Foundation, attempted to try and fit AnimeCon’s 56-hour festival in Rotterdam, but that didn’t work out. Since the organisation listened to the feedback of the visitors of the latest edition of AnimeCon, they decided to search for a new venue. Since this new chosen venue is already fully booked for this year, the 22nd edition of AnimeCon, the regular edition, will be not taking place in 2020, but in 2021 at De Broodfabriek (The Bread Factory) in Rijswijk near The Hague. This convention will take place from 11 to 13 June 2021. This means that we have to wait for more than a year for a new edition of the regular AnimeCon.

The venue is known for other events such as FantasyFest, Creative Fair, International Mineral Fair and more. In the past Fan Base Project had an edition at this same location. J-POP Foundation is planning to use the whole location.

For now, it is important to keep an eye on the updates surrounding AnimeCon Classic 2020, a 56-hours continuous convention with, according to to the organisation, “more exclusive events, selected vendors, cosy bars and a richer experience altogether.” The organisation also announced there will be another edition of AnimeCon Classic in 2021. The exact date and location will be announced at the closing ceremony of AnimeCon Classic 2020.
