Heavy metal band ANTHEM is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year and decided it was time to expand its activities area by participating in several rock festivals abroad, in addition to large-scale anniversary tours in Japan. Confirmed is that they will perform in Europe during a short tour in the summer.
The band will perform in Spain, The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. Some of the shows are festivals, but they will also perform at the cosy, but very known venue Little Devil in Tilburg.
ANTHEM have signed to Nuclear Blast Records (for the European territory) in 2018 to focus on the worldwide market. For this, they released a greatest hits album that was completely re-recorded with English lyrics. After that, they performed at Keep It True Festival in Germany in 2019.
ANTHEM are among the handful of heavy metal bands founded in Japan during the 1980s and are considered to be one of the earliest pioneering bands of Japanese heavy metal, alongside LOUDNESS and Earthshaker. Currently, the band consists of vocalist Yukio Morikawa, guitarist Akio Shimizu, bass player and the only original band member Naoto Shibata, and drummer Isamu Tamaru.
