With the second mini-album coming up, 500.000.000YEN released a music video to celebrate it. It is also immediately the first music video and a good introduction to the band. Although you could watch some live videos of this band. 500.000.000YEN is the solo project of Kyoko, who has been active as a singer of the rock band Scars Borough, from 2006 until the end of March 2016.
While the music in Scars Borough was full of spirit (and spunk) thanks to Kyoko’s raw voice, Kyoko also seemed to be able to incorporate this in her own solo project. This could already be heard on the first release of her solo project ‘Gookuyen’, titled 変幻自在 (Phantasmagoria). With ニジネコ (Nijineko) Kyoko seems to mislead us with a super cheerful, catchy and danceable song, but the singer provides some spunk.
According to Kyoko, ニジネコ is a song in which support for diversity is expressed. She says so herself in a tweet about this song (freely translated): “Become your favourite self. I want you to be yourself.”
The music video starts in monochrome and is presented in full colour after the intro, in which Kyoko sings calmly. Thanks to a young guest in a kigurumi (onesie), we are taught dance steps that match the song. It should put a smile on your face. All in all, it is a cute video, mostly recorded in a well-known location, namely the location where the new release will be presented.
The second mini-album of the band, titled ニュートピア (Nyuutopia, New Topia) will be released on October 24th during a release party at CHELSEA HOTEL where 500.000.000YEN will perform with Wash? and Taro&Jiro.
