Currently touring Europe by caravan for almost 5 months, musician Tempei Nakamura has a mission to travel all over 43 countries and also perform in them. A special project that can’t be ignored. He has travelled through several countries from Estonia to Finland, from Germany to Italy, from France to the United Kingdom and Ireland. Soon he will perform in Germany, Luxembourg and The Netherlands before he will perform in North America and Japan. The plan is that he will return in 2020 for the rest of the European tour for another 5 months. The tour got crowdfunded by his fans and it is still possible to support the classical musician. Tempei Nakamura didn’t tour alone, for a part of the tour he was with shakuhachi player and singer Yuta Matsumura.

Tempei Nakamura is a Japanese composer, pianist and beatbox born in Kobe. Although he started learning piano at a young age of 5, he stopped when he entered junior high school. In 1995, his house was demolished by the Great Hanshin Earthquake. He dropped out of high school and spent a period of time living by working at demolition yards and other physically demanding jobs.
At the age of 17, he decided to change his life and to pursue his dream of music. He entered a music speciality school and then studied at Osaka University of Arts where he graduated major of his promotion in the piano section. He then went abroad to study in New York with the aim to start an international career. In 2010 he did his first solo recital at New York’s famous Carnegie Hall. And from the same year, he began to launch annual European tours, becoming a global performer. He dedicated his project “Rising Sun” (2012 – 2017) to the reconstruction of the Kobe region after the disaster of 1995, was honoured by the Hyogo Prefecture Artists Society with the Award for the Advancement of the Arts in 2015.
Tempei Nakamura is a real traveller, this is not something that he did proof this year in Europe, but also in 2017. In that year, he travelled in all prefectures of Japan to perform everywhere. Also at remarkable places such as the Pilgrimages Routes of Kumano Kodo, which are registered on the UNESCO list. In 2018, he completed 100 live performances in half a year.
