This is definitely a manga for people who love sweet, but short, romance stories. The story itself is not very complicated, neither are the character. Although there isn’t a lot of debt or detail to the characters it is definitely a manga I’d recommend, especially if you prefer to be able to finish reading a story quickly. This manga provides quite a few fun and romantic moments to enjoy.

The story
Boku wa Kisu de Uso wo Tsuku contains a lot of sweet and romantic moments, but there’s plenty of teasing and mystery to keep the story interesting as well. While the main character, Meiko, tries to figure out who kissed her she finds out more about the four guys that were in the library that day. She starts to develop feelings and finds herself hoping it is one specific guy, but struggles with finding out who it was that kissed her.
While the story is pretty predictable it does still entertain. Personally I don’t mind predictability in a short romance manga, because there’s a good reason most romance manga follow a bit of a pattern. It’d be strange if there were no romance in a romance manga.
The characters
Meiko Kitazono, the girl the story of this manga centres itself around, is a very innocent girl who seems easily spooked. One of the guys, Shinobu Shinoda, compares her to a cat, as she runs away from a lot of situations and has slanted eyes.
The characters in this manga do not have very elaborate backgrounds. There is some mentioning of the past, but that focuses on the interaction between the characters’ interactions with one another. Of course this is pretty logical for such a short story.
The style
The manga has a pretty Shoujo style, which is consistent throughout the manga. I can’t say I’ve read any other manga by this author yet, but I do love the style. Rei Touma is known for, among others, Reimei no Arcana, Suijin no Hanayome and Tsukushite Agemasu. Most of the manga from this author and artist, if not all, have a romance theme in them.
