Recently I purchased a few Japanese Candy kits and I will review all of these for AVO. This is not a sponsored review and because of this I won’t mention where I bought this set, if you do an online search using the name of this kit you’ll be able to find this one in several webshops.
Kracie – Pucchito Animal Pancake – Simple
Price: ± €4
Extra supplies: Glass, Water, Scissors, Microwave*, Optional: Baking paper.
* Instead of baking the pancake in the microwave I decided to use my oven. I preheated it to 180 degrees Celsius and baked the pancake for only 5 minutes. If you use an oven do keep in mind that every oven is different: pay attention so the pancake doesn’t burn.
With this kit you create a pancake shaped like a little face. There are four versions of this set available, all of them with cute animal faces. The four versions are: a monkey, a panda, a bunny and a mouse. Mine contained the monkey. It takes about five minutes to prepare this set.
The kit is very easy to make, but you can still create a cute character with it.
The final product looks cute, make sure to take your time when creating the lines with the pink mixture. As you can see on the picture it looks pretty similar to the picture on the packaging, but it was hard to precisely trace the lines.
The pink dough smelled very strongly like raspberry while I was mixing it, it also tasted like it a bit. The lighter dough tasted a little like vanilla and smelled like pancake. It was a pretty tasty snack, but not very special. The whole thing tasted a little like pancake but it also reminded me of cake.
TIPS: Don’t cut 1 centimetre off of the piping bag, as indicated, but just a really fine tip, otherwise it’ll be hard to create the design.
Instead of purchasing this set you could search for an image online, print it, place it underneath a piece of baking paper and trace it with pancake mix. You could mix raspberry jam or juice through the pancake mixture to recreate the taste of the pink dough.

The piece of paper you can reuse if you don’t put the pancake mixture on it directly. By putting a piece of baking paper over it and tracing the design on there you can reuse the drawing more easily.
To use this set again you could make a thick pancake mixture. If the lines flatten and the dough runs you’ll have to add more flour to make it thicker.
You could also trace the design with chocolate or royal icing.
