It’s almost time for spring and of course some new anime series and movies again. Below you’ll find a list of 10 titles we’re looking forward to, keeping to the order of the series’ air dates.

When the names of two people are written in it, and these people then kiss, they will fall in love. Guri makes a big mistake, she accidentally writes down the name of high schooler Seiji Aino in her ‘Kiss Note’. If he doesn’t kiss anyone Guri will die, so she encourages him to kiss his crush, Akane Hiyama. Akane is a very popular girl and has even more feelings for him than he has for her, almost obsessive feelings. When the two finally come together Guri realizes she has feelings for Seiji as well. A dream for some guys, two interested ladies, but far from a dream for Seiji. He just wants to interact normally with girls.

The idea of a ‘Kiss Note’ is pretty funny to me, my first association was Death Note, but then with love. I think it could create a lot of funny and unexpected situations and that’s why I recommend this series. On top of that it’s being released by the studio that also created Fudanshi Koukou Seikatsu.

This anime is the second season of Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata, better known as Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend. In the first season you get to know otaku Tomoya Aki, who works part-time to keep his otaku lifestyle going. He bumps into the prettiest girl in the world, who turns out to be his classmate Megumi Kato, who doesn’t stand out much. Tomoya Aki is busy creating his visual novel and gets the help of a number of people, you can probably guess: they’re all girls. Megumi will eventually be the heroin in his game and him and his team run into all kinds of challenges to eventually sell the game at Comiket. But will they succeed?

Of course you’ll have to have seen the first season to watch the second season, but that is definitely something I’d recommend. This is a light-hearted anime that makes you laugh pretty often and can be pretty relatable. The first season is available on Crunchyroll and hopefully the second season will be too!
Hinako Note (ひなこのーと)
Type: Anime

Hinako is your typical shy little girl and animals are drawn to her because of her aura. That’s why Hinako now works as a scarecrow, to keep the animals away from the crops of her neighbours. And so the story of Hinako the scarecrow begins.
Recommended by Sakura:
The plot seems to me to be simple yet entertaining. As an anime where you don’t really have to think and can relax to after a tiring day. The trailer also looked very cute and the drawing style of the anime is exactly a style I can really appreciate in an anime.
Fukumenkei Noise (覆面系ノイズ)
Type: Anime
Studio: Brain’s Base
Genres: Music, Romance, Shoujo
Based on the eponymous manga by Ryoco Fukuyama
Starts airing: April 2017
Number of episodes: Unknown
In the past Nino has had to say goodbye to two guys she got along with, her first love Momo and Yuzu, a boy who composes music. At both goodbyes Nino promised to keep doing what she loves to do, which is singing until they hear her voice again. In the meanwhile some time has passed and the three are all in high school now.
Recommended by Yuki:
Although I didn’t get a lot of information out of the anime description this still seems like a nice anime. The picture of Nino and the two boys looks good and because of the ‘Romance’ genre I definitely want to give this series a try. There seems to be potential for unrequited but also mutual romantic interests. Brain’s Base is known for, among others, the Durarara!! series.
Kabukibu! (カブキブ!)
Type: Anime
Studio: Studio Deen
Genres: School life
Based on the eponymous light novel by Yuuri Eda and Chizu Kamikou
Starts airing: April 2017
Number of episodes: Unknown
As the title already implies the theme of this anime series is kabuki, which is classic Japanese theatre with a combination of dance, drama and music. 15 year old Kurugo Kurusu has a passion for this art form and is hoping to start a kabuki club at his school. This is not as easy of a task as he’d hoped and he realizes that he’ll have to find a lot more students who want to participate to make his plan a success.
Recommended by Anvica:
The topic kabuki is personally not one I always find interesting, even though it’s a big part of Japan’s history. This is exactly why I like that there’s going to be a series about this now, to put more focus on the subject and so it can be approached from a different angle, which broadens the chance of it becoming more known. Just like in the series itself there isn’t much interest for this these days, something that’s very usable in my opinion. I’m very curious if it’ll make me want to know more about kabuki.
Eromanga-sensei (エロマンガ先生)
Type: Anime
Studio: A-1 Pictures
Genres: Comedy, Drama, Romance
Based on the eponymous light novel by Tsukasa Fushimi and Hiro Kanzaki
Starts airing: April 2017
Number of episodes: Unknown
Izumi Masamune is a high schooler and loves to write light novels. Despite the fact that he has no artistic skills, his stories get illustrated by an anonymous partner who is known under the pseudonym Eromanga Sensei, who, as the name suggests, creates pretty perverted drawings, but is very reliable. Masamune is trying to balance his passion and school, but also has to take care of his only relative, his younger sister Izumi Sagiri who is a hikikomori by nature. He tries to get her out of her room. And then Masamune discovered that his anonymous partner has been his little sister all along! And if that wasn’t enough a pretty, female, well-selling shoujo mangaka enters the picture and becomes their rival!
Recommended by Fran:
Despite the predictability of the fact that Masamune’s anonymous partner turns out to be his little sister, it seems like an interesting to watch how they eventually work together and beat the competition with a beautiful light novel. I expect a lot of humour and probably a romance between the rival and Masamune. I’ll have to see if I’m right!
Re:Creators
Type: Anime
Studio: TROYCA
Genres: Action, Mecha, Sci-Fi
Based on the eponymous manga by Daiki Katou
Starts airing: April 2017
Number of episodes: Unknown
Mankind has created a lot of stories. Happiness, sorrow, anger, deep emotion. Stories shake our emotions and fascinate us, however these are just the thoughts of bystanders. What if characters in stories have “intentions”? Are we god-like creatures tot them, who bring their stories to our world? Our world is changing. Punishments are thought of for the world of the gods. In Re:Creators anyone can be a Creator.

You really can’t find another description than the one above. The mystery around this anime gives me the idea something interesting is going on. The cooperation of many well-known anime producers and creators (pun intended) gives it another dimension to make you want to find out what it’s all about. Aside from that the animation, as far as I can tell, appeals to me.
Alice to Zouroko (アリスと蔵六)
Type: Anime
Studio: J.C. Staff
Genres: Adventure, Mystery, Seinen
Based on the eponymous manga by Tetsuya Imai
Starts airing: April 2017
Number of episodes: Unknown
This anime is about a girl named Sana. She’s one of the children who possesses the power of ‘Alice’s Dream’. That power gives Sana the ability to place anything she imagines in the real world. She meets an old man named Zouroku in the normal world, after she escaped from a lab where she stayed as a test subject. The question is if he will help her or not.
Recommended by Sakura:
The plot is the thing that spoke to me the most with this anime. It’s an amusing concept that always does well with me. Also interesting that there is an older man as the second lead instead of the typical cute boy where the girl gets feelings for.
Warau Salesman New (笑ゥせぇるすまんNEW)
Type: Anime
Studio: Unknown
Genres: Comedy, Drama, Seinen
Based on the eponymous manga by Fujio Fujiko
Starts airing: 3rd of April 2017
Number of episodes: Unknown
Warau Salesman New is an anime that is put in a new light this season. The series follows the traveling door-to-door salesman Fukuzo Moguro and the costumer he has at the moment. Moguro does the kind of business that helps his costumers acquire anything they desire. Once these ‘deals’ are made and the costumers are happy, they do somehow end up with pretty bad consequences. And then we’re not even talking about what happens if they don’t keep to the rules of these deals.
Recommended by Anvica:
Aside from the original series dating back to October 1989, being broadcasted until September 1992, and it being an interesting revival series, I also like the plot. You often find series that centre around making deals, but here it centres around an ‘innocent’ door-to-door salesman who is often disregarded as annoying, which perhaps gives the series a whole different understanding of annoying.
Yoru wa Mijikashi Arukeyo Otome (夜は短し歩けよ乙女)
Type: Movie
Studio: Science SARU
Genres: Comedy, Romance
Based on the eponymous manga by Tomihiko Morimi and Ranmaru Kotone
Starts airing: 7th of April 2017
The main character follows a girl which black hair while she walks on the streets in Kyoto to a second hand book store and afterwards to a college fair. Secretly he has a crush on her and is trying to find a way to ‘accidentally’ bump into her. Unfortunately she isn’t interested in love and doesn’t notice his feelings. These two characters have a lot of adventures ahead of them, for instance they come across a god of second-hand books, a person who loans money to people and the owner of a three story high vehicle and someone who introduces themselves as a Japanese mythological creature named Tengu.
Recommended by Yuki:
The drawing style in the PV is very different than usual, but still very pretty. This alone already sparked my interest. Aside from that the story sounds like it’d be fun because the female character has no interest in romance, which could lead to some funny moments. Although secretly I hope there will eventually be a romantic couple. De weird things that overcome the two also seem interesting, I hope there’s many more surprises in store.
