Psych-rockers Bo Ningen have a number of European shows planned this November, including an appearance at Le Guess Who? in Utrecht. But that’s not all, as the band is one of the guest curators at the Utrecht festival where they have chosen artists who represent the Bo Ningen community, with collaborative projects and audiovisual performances, think Ill Japonia, Masumi Saito, 食品まつり a.k.a. Foodman, and many more. They themselves will give an exclusive performance inspired by Alesandro Jodorwosky’s film The Holy Mountain with visuals by Noriko Okaku and Daisy Dickinson and special visuals by Pedro Maia, this alternative soundtrack was released earlier this year.

Besides shows in the Netherlands, the band has shows scheduled in Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland and Romania. In case you were wondering why the band has no shows scheduled in the United Kingdom this autumn, that’s because they already had several shows last summer, including at the festival ArcTanGent.

Bo Ningen are a Japanese four-piece alternative rock band consisting of Taigen Kawabe on bass and vocals, Yuki Tsujii on guitar, Kohhei Matsuda on guitar and Monchan Monna on drums. Although they hail from Gumma, Tajimi, Nishinomiya and Tokyo in Japan, they met in London. The band started in 2006 and is currently based in the United Kingdom, but regularly tours there and across the rest of Europe and Japan. That also includes various festival performances around the world, such as at Yoko Ono’s Meltdown Festival, Glastonbury, Coachella, Fuji Rock, Summer Sonic, SXSW, Primavera, The Great Escape and many more. They have also done several interesting collaborations, such as with Damo Suzuki (CAN), Jehnny Beth (Savages), Douglas Hart (The Jesus and Mary Chain), and Hedi Slimane (Yves Saint Laurent).
