At the end of June, the prog-pop band KOIAI will be performing in Europe for the first time. They have scheduled four shows, including performances at Japan Tours Festival and Anime Messe, but also a club show in Cologne.
The band was formed in December 2022 after popular guitarist Li-sa-X, guitarist Hazuki (NEMOPHILA) and singer Kotono (ex-IRONBUNNY) teamed up to do a cover of Polyphia’s song ABC. The video that came out of it was well received. A few months later, they were performing at Oddball Festival in India, before releasing any music. That same year, they released two EPs to present their genre-defying compositions between metal and jazz, Deep Indigo (May 2023) and Deep Love (October 2023). Drummer Kanade Sato officially joined KOIAI as the fourth member when the band was celebrating their first anniversary. In November 2024, they released another EP, Come see me.
Last March, it was announced that Kotono would leave the band to focus on getting medical treatment, related to her ears and throat issues. The band will now tour Europe with support vocalist nene. In addition, bass player Wakazaemon (ex-East Of Eden) will join the European tour as support musician.
