Uzumaki (うずまき)
Type: Anime
Studio: Drive
Genres: Avant Garde, Drama, Horror, Supernatural, Suspense
Based on the eponymous manga by Junji Itou.
Starts airing: 28th of September 2024
Number of Episodes: Unknown
Our story is set in a seemingly average town called Kurouzu-cho where our main character Kirie Goshima lives a pretty normal life. This all changes when she sees her boyfriend’s father stare at a snail shell in an alley. After discussing it with her boyfriend he mentions that they should leave the town because the town is infected with spirals.
Recommended by Lecros:
Junji Ito manages to evoke a very unsettling feeling with his striking thin lines, black-and-white art style and creepy writing. With Uzumaki, he takes inspiration from naturally occurring spirals in our environment that you can see everywhere but don’t pay much attention to but when you start focusing on them you might see them more often than you’d expect. Managing to evoke emotions in readers with simple elements makes Uzumaki a very powerful story.
To preserve these emotions they have decided to go for a black-and-white approach and in the trailer, you can see classic fan favourite moments in full animated glory, so this promises to be a great adaptation for new viewers and fans alike.
Rekishi ni Nokoru Akujo ni Naru zo (歴史に残る悪女になるぞ)

Killed in a traffic accident, a girl awakes to find herself reborn as the younger self of a sharp-tongued, quick-witted villainess in a computer game. The girl sets out, with knowledge of her fate, to become the greatest villainess, a legend for all to remember.. however, can the fate depicted in the game be avoided..
Recommended by PHX:
Tales of a character trying to avoid a fated future can often provide a good mix of emotional upheaval as well as comedy and romance, while following the twists and turns of the story as they try to influence the world around them. There are some similarities in the plot to Villainess Level 99, which was aired earlier this year and the studio have experience with several Isekai anime so I expect this will provide some good, light-hearted entertainment as the autumn nights draw in.

Recommended by Hageshi:
I just like sports anime in general, so of course this one called out to me. I like that this anime doesn’t stick with just one type of sports, but multiple ones and I do hope they continue to portray this.
Kekkon suru tte, Hontou desu ka (結婚するって、本当ですか/365 Days To The Wedding)

As their employer is looking for staff that are not married to work at an overseas branch, introverted co-workers Honjouji and Oohara hatch a plan to avoid being selected.. Pretend they are going to be married..
Recommended by PHX:
This has the makings of a comedy great, pitching two introverted people into a situation like this will provide a lot of fun, heart-warming and awkward moments between them as they try to learn about each other and fool their bosses and the people around them. Of course, as time passes, the question will arise.. will something real emerge from a lie..? One to warm up the cold nights with laughter.

The narrative centres on Sakuragi Kana, a job-seeking young woman who stumbles upon a magical girl agency. Driven by her childhood aspirations, she joins the task force to combat the “Kaii” catastrophic event as a newly employed magical girl.
Recommended by Natsu:
Nowadays, there are numerous programs that focus around magical girls who effortlessly transition into their strong and confident characters; the difference with this series is that it depicts the relatable hardships of an aspiring employee in any type of new position. It provides fresh viewpoints on current issues while also injecting much-needed humour.
Goukon ni Ittara Onna ga Inakatta Hanashi (合コンに行ったら女がいなかった話)

When Tokiwa gets invited to a social gathering by his female college classmate Suo, he was expecting to find some girls there as well, but instead him and his friends are greeted by three handsome young men.. What did he get himself into?
Recommended by Yuki:
This sounds like it’ll be fun of funny moments and unconventional relationships/love stories. The crossdressing theme makes this one stand out, hopefully it’s not treated too weirdly in the series.
Ranma ½ (2024) (らんま1/2)
Type: Anime

The Saotome and Tendo Martial Arts schools wish to secure their lineage and decide to marry off their son and daughter to each other. Suddenly getting thrown into this situation makes Akane Tendo quite unhappy as she really dislikes boys. However it’s not easy for our main character Saotome Ranma either as he turns into a girl every time he gets splashed by cold water. Not only that but his dad turns into a Panda with similar circumstances. This leads to hilarious situations and misconceptions as Ranma tries to navigate his new family situation combined with his gender shifting.
Recommended by Lecros:
The more anime and manga you consume the more you will occasionally see joke images, bits and pieces in anime music videos or hear about classic anime. Ranma ½ has always been one of those shows to me and I’ve always been interested in it but never gave it a chance as it’s a bit of an older show.
Ranma ½ has a nice blend of funny comedy moments, action and a loose thread of romance that ties it all together and now that you have the option to watch a modern version of the show it’s the perfect chance for me and other anime fans to see what made this such a classic.
Kimi wa Meido-sama (君は冥土様。)
Type: Anime
Studio: Felix Film

Based on the eponymous web manga by Shotan.

Hitoyoshi Yokoya is a lone high school student who gets an unexpected visit from a maid who is looking for a job. She is ineffective around the house, though, and to Hitoyoshi’s shock, she was formerly an assassin! After she saves his life and adopts the new name Yuki, he reluctantly takes her in and she begins her new life as a maid.
Recommended by Natsu:
I appreciate the concept of a cold-blooded killer gradually learning a skill for everyday life. This is a recipe for disaster, but I am sure it will make for unforgettable humour.
Raise wa Tanin ga Ii (来世は他人がいい)
Type: Anime
Studio: Studio Deen
Genres: Romance
Based on the eponymous manga by Asuka Konishi.
Starts airing: 7th of October 2024
Number of Episodes: Unknown
The granddaughter of the leader of the Somei Group, the Kansai region’s largest yakuza group, is arranged to marry the grandson of the Miyama Group, unifying the two groups. Yoshino Somei, the high-school girl who is now suddenly engaged, tries her best to get out of the arrangement, but fails. She is sent to live in Tokyo with her new fiancé, Kirishima Miyama. Once at her new school in Tokyo, Yoshino soon finds out Kirishima is popular, which makes her a bullying target of his many fangirls. Despite his popularity, Kirishima is no prince charming, given his yakuza upbringing.
Recommended by Yuki:
I wonder how and when the relationship between them will grow, given his background and her new, and difficult, situation. I think this’ll be a fun twist to a regular romance anime and I hope Yoshino doesn’t become a damsel in distress, but rather someone who stands up for herself. Given her own background, it would be nice and logical for her to be a pretty strong person.
Hoshifuru Oukoku no Nina (星降る王国のニナ)

To her surprise, her captor Prince Azure, orders that she lives the life of recently deceased princess-priestess Alisha, because of the colour of her deep blue hue as lapis lazuli eyes, just like the God of the Stars. But despite her changing fortune, Nina doesn’t give up her old life without a fight. How much can she trust Azure? And can she stop the feelings blossoming in her heart? Knowing she is obligated to marry prince Sett?
Recommended by Hageshi:
Sett is being voiced by one of my favourite voice actors Uchiyama, Kouki (Hotarubi no Mori e, Haikyuu!!, Yuri!!! On Ice), because of this I got attracted to this anime. I also liked the art style from the trailer and despite not knowing what they were saying in Japanese, I felt attracted to all of the voices, in my opinion they all fit so well which makes it easier to stay attached to the story.
