2025 is going to be a very interesting year for Esprit D’Air, after wrapping up the Leviathan Tour late last year and early this year, fans can look forward to an extensive European headliner tour as well as three new albums from the hand of the self-produced melodic metal and electroniccore band. To add all to this, it will be the band’s 15th anniversary in 2025, so it is going to be a big year overall for Esprit D’Air.
The tour, entitled Seasons & Aeons Tour, is scheduled for March and April, starting on 22 March in Bristol and ending on 28 April in Barcelona. Although 16 European shows have already been announced, more dates for the tour will be announced soon. The members of Esprit D’Air include Kai, who also tours with the English rock band The Sisters of Mercy, on vocals and guitar, in addition to his role as bandleader. The band is further joined by touring and session musicians Takeshi on bass, Yusuke on guitar and Jan-Vincent Velazco (Pendragon and Gus G) on drums.
The tour title is a reference to Esprit D’Air’s upcoming album releases. First up, Seasons, is a compilation of unreleased tracks, reworkings and covers, said to be an extraordinary collection of rock songs. A live album release is also planned, titled Live in Barcelona, recorded during their sold-out 2023 Leviathan Tour performance there. Both albums will be released simultaneously in Europe and Japan on 8 November 2024. The band’s next studio album, Aeons, featuring their signature electronic metal sound, is scheduled for a 2025 release, but an exact date will be announced later.
Esprit D’Air’s bandleader Kai is looking forward to the upcoming tour with enthusiasm. The multi-instrumentalist says that compared to past tours the band will now be playing in bigger venues, and that while the band had largely self-promoted the past European tour. Kai says: ‘It’s really exciting to see the venues we’re playing double in size and to see that the demand is there.’ The new album Seasons offers a time travel to the band’s early days, with a carefully curated selection of unreleased tracks and covers. Kai explains: ‘Our upcoming album ‘Seasons’ will be a nostalgic journey of unreleased songs and classic covers, taking our fans back to the sound we had when we first formed.’ Aeons, on the other hand, will have a more progressive sound. ‘I am really excited about releasing both of them and we will definitely play some of those songs on this tour,’ Kai adds.
Without the support of a record label or manager, Esprit D’Air managed to reach a #5 position in the Album Downloads of the Official Charts with their previous album Oceans, while their singles Leviathan and Shizuku have reached the top 10 this year. The band recently released a remix of Shizuku, created by award-winning metal drum-and-bass producer Zardonic, and a new orchestral version of Glaciers. These impressive performances underline the promise for their future releases.
