Every year in April, the music event THE DREAMING BAY takes place, organised by the pop-rock band April in 85. This year too, it will be held at the band’s favourite venue, at Shimokitazawa Daisybar. This year, the live venue is celebrating its 17th anniversary, so there are various performances to celebrate this fact, including the fifth edition of THE DREAMING BAY on Sunday 24 April. The evening is filled with a performance by Michiganized who will play a special set with a band for this performance, which will be concluded by a performance by April in 85.

Live broadcast from Shimokitazawa Daisybar

There is good news for those who are unable to travel to Japan to enjoy this event or are in Japan and not able to go because it has been decided that this event will be simultaneously broadcasted live from the venue.

It is not the first time that the pop-rock band decided to stream a live performance, last year in December and in October the year before, live performances were broadcast online after postponing the events with the hope that it could take place in front of their fans. In December 2021, it was finally possible to hold the event with an audience, but the fans who could not come were not overlooked with the option of the live broadcast.

The live performances of April in 85 and Michiganized will be streamed through the platform Twitcasting. This live broadcast will be a multi-angle camera stream, with the use of four cameras. If you are not able to catch the performance live, you will be able to watch the archive of the performance for one week after the show. The show will start at 18.00 Japanese time, which means 10.00 AM in The Netherlands and 09.00 in the United Kingdom. If you are looking for music entertainment during breakfast, this might be it.

Who are April in 85 and Michiganized?

April in 85 got formed in 2016 after ex-the butterfly nine cord vocalist and guitarist Yuichi Abe decided to turn his solo project into a band format with support musicians and name it after his birth month and year. To date, the pop-rock band released several singles, a mini-album, three albums, including a special digital release, titled EDUCATION, filled with sold-out sound sources, singles and unreleased songs that have not been released on the other two albums, WONDER WAVE WALKER and SLEEP IN WHITE. The guest musicians for this show will be guitarist Maki (CUICUI), bassist Ayumi Shiraishi (CUICUI) and drummer Koki (NAMELESS).

Behind indie music project Michiganized is Yumi Aoi, a bass player, who decided to start a solo project in 2014, although under a different moniker. After a hiatus, she returned as Michiganized and released an EP, cassette and also released a song through the compilation of Get Your Genki. Since December 2021, Michiganized’s performances are done with a full band line-up. The music by Michiganized is inspired by new wave, shoegaze, electronica and 90’s pop music.
