Around Valentine’s day there are always a lot of special edition chocolates, cookies and other tasty snacks available in Japan. A great moment to buy some snacks!
Heart – Kotoritachi Chocolates
Price: ± €9,-
Just like Present from Rilakkuma these snacks come in a metal tin, that you can reuse for chocolates, cookies or other snacks. The design is pretty cheerful and elaborate with quite a few bird characters on it. The tin doesn’t have a very obvious Valentine’s or love theme to it, but there are two heart shaped chocolates in it.
In total this tin contains four different shapes and five different flavours of chocolates. The yellow and white birds tasted like creamy white chocolate. The brown bird and brown heart tasted a little more bitter than I’m used to from milk chocolate and a little less sweet. Upon opening the tin I smelled a strong artificial strawberry scent, but to my surprise the pink chocolates didn’t taste that strongly of strawberry, the flavour was pretty subtle. The two square white chocolates with print mainly tasted like cereal or rice crispies, the creamy white chocolate stands out a lot less. The round chocolate, in a wrapper, was brown and had an almond filling with alcohol. I thought the flavour was very strong, but I don’t like alcohol.
There was only one chocolate that I didn’t like in this tin, but that’s because I don’t like alcohol or alcohol flavouring. The rest of the chocolates were deliciously creamy and didn’t have an overly sweet or strong flavour to them.
This tin with nine chocolates were definitely worth buying. I will definitely keep the tin and use it for other snacks or just as a nice decoration.
