Japan Festival 2017: Duik in de Japanse Cultuur
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on RedditShare on Tumblr

Sunday the 8th of October Japan Festival will take place, once again it will take place on het Stadsplein of Amstelveen. Once again there will be no entrance fee for this event.

The thought behind Japan Festival is to further strengthen the bond between Japan and the Netherlands and for this reason you will be able to take a glance into several aspects of the Japanese culture here. There are workshops and performances with a Japanese element to them, fun for all ages. Some examples of what you’ll find here are martial arts demonstrations, several musical performances and workshops on the Japanese language, origami and calligraphy. There will also be a workshop on Ikebana, flower arranging. Just like last year, Japan Festival offers a sushi workshop, provided by the Okura Hotel, but you don’t have to take part in this workshop to enjoy some tasty sushi. Aside from the activities and performances, Japanese food will once again be part of Japan Festival as well. Takoyaki, taiyaki or sushi, you’ll surely find something to your liking.

Annual event

Japan Festival used to be a biyearly event, but the organisation hopes to make this a yearly event, depending on the success of this edition. It’ll take place, as always, in Amstelveen. Japan Festival was held on October 23rd last year. The event will take place from 12.00 till 18.00 in a big tent on het Stadsplein, so don’t let bad weather keep you from paying a visit to Japan Festival!
