Hard rock band Risky Melody and rock musician Maki Oyama are joining forces for a European tour in May, entitled Tokyo Metal Night on Tour – The Lady’s Dance Ball. This will be the first time either of these Japanese acts has performed in Europe, and the Netherlands is on the list of stops. Risky Melody and Maki Oyama will first perform at Musicon in The Hague and can be seen live at P60 in Amstelveen the following day.
In addition to the four shows where they will share the stage, singer Maki Oyama has extended her first European tour with a number of extra shows. Maki Oyama kicks off her first European tour on 2 May, with a number of performances at conventions, namely FrankenMEXX and HanaCon, both in Germany. Maki Oyama is backed by a live band and has announced that drummer Haruka Mori (FATE GEAR) will join the European tour from 12 May. Risky Melody will also be performing at HanaCon, bringing their European tour to a close on 17 May.
Active since 2014, Risky Melody are considered one of the better-known Japanese hard rock and metal bands with an all-female line-up. Their sound combines heavy, aggressive riffs with catchy melodies and the powerful vocals of frontwoman Alice. The band are known for their intense stage presence and play more concerts a year in Japan than almost any other rock band featuring female musicians. They have now performed over 1,500 live shows. They are set to release a new album at the end of April, entitled THE WORLD.
Maki Oyama is regarded as one of the most influential voices on the Japanese rock scene. Her career began with an official theme song for the Osaka Lovvits women’s handball team. She has also sung the Japanese national anthem at international handball championships. She has also appeared as a guest vocalist on albums and during live performances by bands such as Aldious and Fate Gear, and has collaborated with various Japanese musicians from the rock scene. She has numerous album releases to her name and has been a regular presence on television and radio.
