Last April, envy performed two shows at the Roadburn 2025 festival, but the hardcore/screamo band will return in August for a proper European tour, playing at various summer festivals and music venues. The tour consists of fourteen shows in ten countries, including a performance at the fiftieth edition of the Belgian music festival Lokerse Feesten, but also Brutal Assault, Arctangent, and Motocultor Festival.
Envy have established themselves as one of Japan’s top exports to the international post-hardcore scene since their formation in the early 1990s – more than thirty years ago. They are a favourite among lovers of post-rock and alternative metal thanks to their experimental, cinematic approach to heavy melodic rock. The emo/screamo scene also lauds them for their powerful, emotionally raw vocals and lyrics. In 2018, the band suffered a major setback due to a significant change in their line-up, but managed to bounce back and focus on producing new music. Last October, envy released their eighth studio album, Eunoia, the second album with the current line-up.
