Japanese singer-songwriter Ayano Kaneko, known for her unique blend of indie pop, is set to head back to Europe with her band for her third UK tour in May. Although the main focus will be on headlining concerts, she will also be attending the Dot to Dot festival at the end of the tour. It will start on the 16th of May in Glasgow and end with the festival on the 25th of May in Nottingham.

While Ayano Kaneko originally made music as a soloist who collaborated with different musicians over the years, she has been looking for the right people to join her permanently. During last year’s UK tour she performed with guitarist Hirotoshi Hayashi, bass player Takuya Iizuka, and drummer Hikari Sakashita whom she has now officially formed the band kanekoayano (stylised in English) with, although that doesn’t mean solo activities are out of the picture as those will remain separated under her name written in katakana (カネコアヤノ).

Although she has played many amazing venues in Japan and even sold out the prestigious Budokan stadium (twice!), her tours in the UK so far have been a bit smaller and cosier in scale but with every UK tour she has been playing slightly more venues so hopefully she can expand her tours to the rest of Europe in the future. Until then: If you want to listen to her live make sure to tune into her YouTube channel on Thursday the 24th of April!
