After touring this spring, the Osaka-based avant-garde group goat will embark on a short summer tour through Europe, with shows in Italy, the United Kingdom, Portugal and Spain.
2023 was goat’s 10th anniversary year, which was celebrated at the end of the summer by two special live shows, Joy In Fear, which is also the title of their first release in eight years. Originally consisting of four people: guitar, saxophone, bass and drums, the group is now a five-piece. Koshiro Hino leads the group on guitar, further consisting of bassist Atsumi Tagami, Akihiko Ando on saxophone, and percussion by Takafumi Okada and Rai Tateishi. The musicians ignore the musical scales of their instruments as much as possible and create songs out of the noise and muffled sounds that emerge from them. The result is complex, driven, powerful compositions that are both urban and tribal.
