Garage rock band THE 50KAITENZ are about to kick off an eight-day European tour with shows in Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland. This is their second time performing in Europe, as they were also there for several gigs last year, also in May. This year, the trio is celebrating the band’s 20th anniversary.

Formed in 2004 with Osaka as their home base, THE 50KAITENZ are considered the hot insider tip in the international garage rock scene, but in Japan, they have made it so far that they have been allowed to sign with major labels like Warner Music and Sony Music and collaborate with artists like AKB48, Hiromi Go, and Akiko Wada. With the band’s tenth anniversary, they founded their own label and named it Magic Box.

The band plays punk music from the 60s, but has also fully absorbed the rock’n’roll history of the 70s. In 2021, the band’s fourth album was released through German label Sounds Of Subterrania, which describes the band as follows: “Punk, country, garage or beat – everything is scrutinised, distilled, stirred, shaken and stirred again to be unleashed on your auditory canals in irreverent perfection.”
