The photo shows a group of five people in black clothing standing inside what seems to be an industrial space. All five musicians appear to be looking off into different directions while maintaining their composure despite being surrounded by such an industrial setting.

Just a couple more weeks until the Japanese visual kei band GERTENA will have their first performance outside of Japan during the geek market Gammaco on Saturday 7th of October in the Swiss city of Zofingen.

Formed in 2021 by singer Agato, guitarists Satsuki & Youth-K-End, Renka on the bass, who had first come together in the temporary band Warasvo and soon was joined by drummer Nao at the end of 2021. With GERTENA, they want to support people with past trauma and problems and to give them a chance to set another foot forward. Even if there is only one person in the world who can connect to this message, they would gladly help that person with a nudge in the right direction. Since 2021 the line-up mostly stayed the same, aside from bassist Renka who sadly had to leave the band due to health concerns and the baton was passed onto Kasumi.

Last July GERTENA dropped their latest single RADIANT. A track with deep visual kei style vocals, an upbeat drum rhythm and a melodic rhythm on guitar that gets alternated by screamo vocals with double bass drums and more of a distorted guitar sound that altogether gives us a wonderful visual kei track.

Around the release of this song the band announced that they would perform in Switzerland. For all the band members aside from Satsuki, who had the chance before with Zeke Deux, it’s also the first time that they get the chance to perform in a foreign country and they’re enthusiastic to show the rest of the world what they got and thanks to the people behind Aki no Matsuri, they have the chance to do just that at the first edition of Swiss event Gammaco.

The performance of GERTENA was originally planned for the music night during the event of Aki no Matsuri, but due to a renovation of the venue, the event unfortunately had to be cancelled. The event will be held again in spring, but since the name would no longer fit the event, they will continue under the new name Sakura no Matsuri. To not leave the October month empty the organisation decided to start up a completely new event around the original date called Gammaco with the result that GERTENA’s performance can continue as planned. During the day, the band will be selling their merchandise at their booth at Gammaco and there is also a possibility to join a meet & greet and signing session.

At Gammaco, you can find all kinds of geeky stuff, Japanese bites and snacks and if you bought the right ticket you can end the day with a concert by GERTENA. There are two kinds of tickets: one for the market and one for the market plus concert. You can get your tickets here.

Experience Gammaco on Saturday the 7th of October from 10:00 till 20:00 with a concert by GERTENA to end the day, starting at 20.00.
Location: Strengelbacherstrasse 25A, 4800 Zofingen, Zwitserland

The editing is done by Floor Toppets @/fl00r99 on Instagram, and shows blurring and filters, making it an abstract photo.
