It has been a while since we wrote about the singer-songwriter, poetry rapper and producer Haru Nemuri, but she has been tremendously busy over the past few years. From a brand-new album 春火燎原 (Shunka Ryougen) to various tours in North America, appearances on various online events, shows in her own country to further in East Asia and back to North America again (coming March). In May and June, she will return to the United Kingdom after years away and to Ireland for the first time. It is still unclear whether this tour will be extended with more shows in mainland Europe.
The tour to promote latest album 春火燎原 (Shunka Ryougen) in the United Kingdom and Ireland consists of 9 shows, starting on 25 May in Newcastle and ending on 7 June in Dublin, with a show at Psych and Noise Festival in between.
In case you are unfamiliar with Haru Nemuri’s music, this might be the sign to start listening to her music, which she writes, composes and arranges herself. She has released several impressive music videos and she is known to be very transparent about the meanings of her songs by sharing explanations on her website. Her very first album was released in 2018, 春と修羅 (Haru to Shura) which garnered her quite a bit of international attention. This was followed up a year later with quite a few performances outside Japan, from Malaysia to even the Netherlands, from festival shows to sold-out club shows.
In 2020, Haru Nemuri completed her album LOVETHEISM, which again garnered a lot of praise. This was followed up in 2021 with a handful of new songs, she was part of SXSW Online and Live on KEXP. In March 2022, it was finally time for Haru Nemuri to tour North America after the tour had to be postponed once before due to the pandemic. In April that year, the album 春火燎原 (Shunka Ryougen) was released, featuring 21 songs. It looks like this album was also well received by international audiences.
