Sumikkogurashi are a group of adorable characters by San-X. These have been the star of many candies and candy kits, some of which you can find back here. With this candy kit you’ll create some Sumikkogurashi pancakes. Each package contains one mould, two packets of pancake mix and a packet of sauce. There are four mould available, of the following characters: Tonkatsu, Neko, Penguin? and Shirokuma. Which one of the characters you get is a surprise.

The pancakes themselves were fluffy, but a little bit dry. They’re slightly sweet, but not overly so. Part of their flavour will depend on which kind of milk you decide to use to make these.
I expected the sauce to be chocolate sauce, due to the colour, but it turned out to be more of a dark caramel sauce. It added some sweetness, but also slight bitterness to the pancakes and complimented them well.

This is one of those kits that takes very little time and there’s no waiting time involved.

Definitely an easy candy kit to make, since there are few and simple steps. These were not hard to make, but whether the design turned out looking great or not was hard to predict. Luckily you can make four pancakes total, one of them is bound to look good enough to be on the top of the stack.

As you can see on the pictures below, the final product looks pretty similar to the picture on the packaging. The texture is different however, since the pancakes have some air bubbles and the sauce does spread more, making the image a bit more blurry and smudged.
