It has been announced by Square Enix that the Final Fantasy concert series by Final Symphony will be returning after 4 years of absence. The next concert is scheduled to take place in April 2023 at Symphony Hall in Birmingham. While it has been announced as a tour, only one show has been announced so far.
The concert series features orchestral arrangements of video game music from the several Final Fantasy games, such as Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII, and Final Fantasy X. Music created by Japanese composers Nobuo Uematsu and Masashi Hamauzu. The upcoming show in Birmingham will be performed by the musicians of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO). The programme has been shared on the website of the CBSO. The general ticket sale for this performance will start on Wednesday 25 May.
The last time the tour took place was in 2018, when the shows were performed in Germany, Austria, and Australia. To date, since the start in 2013, there have been 22 performances worldwide.
In 2015, a digital album by Final Symphony was released, recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios, which reached the number 1 spot on the iTunes Classical Charts in more than ten countries and entered the Classical Album Top 5 of both the Billboard Charts and the Official UK Charts.
