It has been five years since vocalist and guitarist Yuichi Abe decided to turn his solo project into a band format with support musicians and name it after his birth month and year, April in 85. This festive occasion will be celebrated with a performance scheduled for 19 December and is titled SWAY WITH YOU.

The activities of April in 85 has been followed from the start by AVO Magazine, with several highlights on releases and even a live report last year. To date, the pop-rock band released several singles, a mini-album, three albums, including a special digital release, titled EDUCATION, filled with sold-out sound sources, singles and unreleased songs that have not been released on the other two albums, WONDER WAVE WALKER and SLEEP IN WHITE.

While it is not possible to visit the special event in person for those living outside Japan, it is nice to know that in addition to show in front of a live audience, the event will simultaneously also be broadcast live from Shimokitazawa Daisybar, practically a regular location for April in 85. It is not the first time that the pop-rock band decided to stream a live performance, last year in October, it was decided that the concert to celebrate the release of April in 85’s second album would be streamed live after postponing the event a couple of times with the hope that it could take place in front of their fans.

This time it will be a bit different with a show in front of a live audience and online audience, but the decision to do both makes it possible for the band to share this special celebration worldwide. The guest musicians for this show will be guitarist Maki (CUICUI), bassist Ayumi Shiraishi (CUICUI) and drummer Koki (NAMELESS). The VJ for this evening is Tatsuro Iwashita.

This livestream will be a multi-angle camera stream, with the use of four cameras. A streaming ticket can be purchased on the Twitcasting page of the venue and will be 2500 yen. If you are not able to catch the performance live, you will be able to watch the archive of the performance for one week after the show. The show will start at 18.00 Japanese time, which means 10.00 AM in The Netherlands and 09.00 in the United Kingdom.

If you are in the area, it is good to know that the doors open at 17.30 Japanese time. Should you have time to take a look at the merchandise table, you will also find a new DVD in addition to the new shirts (in collaboration with VISIONS). This DVD contains live footage of the one-man show that was recorded last year.

This is a digital painting of the avatar of Vocaloid producer and songwriter Kikuo with colourful and flowing long hair and two red horns. The painting shows Kikuo in a movement where he moves his arms, making it look that he has several arms. The avatar seems to be mysterious with a quiet but expressive look. This painting has been used for the Kikuo World Tour 2024 – 2025 “Kikuoland-Go-Round” promotion.
