After the 2020 edition of MondoCon was cancelled and the convention went online for activities, this summer it will be different. The Hungarian convention has received a go-ahead from the government to organise the event on the 17th and 18th of July at Hungexpo in Budapest.
However, visitors of the event can only participate at MondoCon if they follow the latest regulations regarding events – defined by the Hungarian government. These regulations are mentioned on the website of MondoCon. Make sure to check the website shortly before the event for the latest updates.
In Hungary, MondoCon is the oldest and biggest geek convention, that normally has an edition in spring, summer and autumn. The first MondoCon was organised in 2008 with a focus on anime and manga. It has changed a lot after that, although the convention stayed true to their roots as the anime and manga fandom is still one of the cornerstones of the convention. Many Japanese musicians have performed at this event, such as Haruka, BO-PEEP, PLASTICZOOMS and Bridear.
The full programme of the summer edition of MondoCon 2021 will be announced soon, but there are already a couple of things announced, such as screenings of films.
