Making plans in 2021 is of course a bit of a gamble, but it looks like festival Le Guess Who? is positive given the organisation is busy setting up the event for later this year. Something to look forward to! “In the spirit of cautious optimism”, the organisation announced new artists for the fourteenth festival edition full of groundbreaking music & culture, which will take place in Utrecht from 11 to 14 November. In total there are 46 new names added and more will be added later to the line-up.
Le Guess Who?’s goal of bringing people together has not changed in recent times, and neither has its international focus: the organisation is currently working hard to bring as many different sounds and voices to Le Guess Who? as possible. Throughout the years Le Guess Who? has involved guest curators to invite their inspirations and like-minded artists to perform at the festival. One of the guest curators, Japanese percussionist and ambient composer Midori Takada will also perform as part of Ton-Klami, her free jazz improvisation trio with pianist Masahiko Satoh and saxophonist Kang Tae Hwan. Takada also invites The Hague’s Ensemble Klang for the live premiere of their audiovisual project Thrift Hybrids. Also performing will be Spirit Fest, an avant-pop supergroup with members of Germany’s The Notwist and Japan’s Tenniscoats.
Other artists who will also perform include OSEES, Bent Arcana, Pa Salieu, William Basinski, Siti Muharam, faUSt performing FAUST IV, Arooj Aftab, the Microphones and KeiyaA. All names are pictured below.
Le Guess Who? is dedicated to sharing and exploring boundary-crossing music & culture from all over the world. The 14th edition takes place from 11-14 November 2021 throughout the entire city of Utrecht. The festival presents music, film, visual arts and more, in pop venues, theatres, churches, museums, warehouses and public squares. 4-Day Festival Passes are available now. Day tickets will become available at a later date.
