MADAME EDWARDA, by most seen as a legendary goth rock band based in Japan, shared a new video on their YouTube channel. Originally released on a cassette in 1986 and later as a re-release on CD in 2017, titled Illumine, the song Carnival has now officially a music video in 4K.

The members of MADAME EDWARDA, vocalist Zin-François Angélique, guitarist Snaky-Snaky, bass player D’indy and drummer Scilly, sitting all next to each other in a cosy set-up on the red sofa. Since it is an unplugged performance, the instruments were changed up to an acoustic guitar, upright bass, and a snare drum. To accommodate their fans outside Japan, the four-piece has provided English subtitles for the song.

The video is filmed at Gallery Zaroff, a coffee shop, salon and gallery located in Shibuya. A perfect location in Frech dark style for MADAME EDWARDA to film an unplugged version of one of their songs. Also not an unknown location for the vocalist Zin-François Angélique, as he has exhibited his artwork before at this address.

Recently, the goth rock band has been uploading new videos on their YouTube channel, in some cases they were new versions of older music videos but now with subtitles or totally brand-new, such as Lumière, released as a new years video, promoting their latest album release WEIRD TAILS. Also important to mention is that the influential band is currently celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

Still from OTO MAYUMI's music video for the song "だって (Datte)". The singer-songwriter is standing in front of a wall on which a beamer shines seemingly psychedelic-like patterns. As she stands between the beamer and wall, a shadow of herself is created on the wall. She looks up after dancing. The video is directed by Pierluigi Patella.
