The Antwerp-based gallery IBASHO will start the new year with an exhibition, titled Pale Blue ● (Pale Blue Dot), by artistic duo Albarrán Cabrera. It will be the second time that the duo will present an exhibition at IBASHO Gallery.

Consisting of Angel Albarrán and Anna Cabrera (both born 1969 in Spain), the duo travels to and stay in Japan frequently, and their time spent in this country has strongly influenced the aesthetic content of their work and printing techniques. Albarrán Cabrera’s newest project is based on a Japanese creation myth in which all life and humanity originate from the oceans. Pale Blue ● intends to reconnect us with the Earth and Nature.

With this visual project, Albarrán Cabrera want to give us a new perspective on our role in relation to our planet: “We are but a little anecdote in the evolution of our planet and in our pride, we state that we are the ones destroying the planet. The truth is that by poisoning the oceans, the soil and the air, we are only destroying the human race. Mother Earth has been without us for aeons and she will go on. Earth is prepared to evolve and adapt in a way mankind cannot. There is only one way to stop this separation from our origins and it means to restore our relationship with the Oceans, the Earth and Nature as a whole.”

The duo uses a wide range of processes and materials and handcraft their prints using classic printing methods, such as platinum and silver halide or invent new ones, such as pigment prints on gold leaves. They create copies that are unique in themselves. The poetic and sensual nature of these prints is proof of an unrivalled craftsmanship.

The exhibition runs from 28 January to 14 March 2021 at IBASHO Gallery. You can find this gallery at Tolstraat 67 in Antwerp. More information about the opening hours and more impressions of the upcoming exhibition can be found on the website of IBASHO.

Colourful artistic cover of TsuShiMaMiRe 20th full-length album バンドは水物 (MIZUMONO), featuring the three members at that time, vocalist and guitarist Mari, bass player Yayoi and drummer Maiko. There are masks drawn on their faces and on top of it the band name and album title in a font that seems like splashes of water.
